The 20th Anniversary of Ichthus Schools

20 years ago, our founding director, Mrs SeeMun Suparno, in her prayers to look for the right school for her children, was inspired with a vision which became a promise, a promise to God to start a school to prepare students to strive for excellence in a global society and to glorify God through their daily walk.

Ichthus started from a one building campus in the West Jakarta offering primary education and progressively expanded to the current 2 campuses in West and South Jakarta with classes ranging from primary to high school. In the span of only 20 years, the transformation stories of Ichthusians achieved through the dedication of passionate leaders and teachers has been nothing less than remarkable.

Every single year, each cohort of Ichthusians make us proud by breaking new records and setting new highs in the national and international arena. Join us as we chronologize the 20 remarkable years of transformation in Ichthus Schools. We are honored and blessed to be a part of the transformative journey of our students and we look forward to many great years ahead.

2021
Our students continue to win awards in online mathematics and science Olympiads, story writing competitions, solo singing competitions and badminton nationals as well.

2022
Christian Choir Champions of DKI Jakarta Again!
3rd time in a row, Ichthus won the Christian Choir Competitions to represent DKI Jakarta to Yogjakarta in June 2022 this time. During the writing of this article, Ichthus has yet to compete in Yogjakarta. All the best team Ichthus! Sing your hearts out and enjoy the experience!

2019
Cambridge Excellence Award
Regina Jasmine received a Cambridge Excellence Award for AS Level Psychology and went on to study political science in the University of Indonesia. The graduating cohort grew progressively and many got into majors and universities of choice.

2020
Cambridge Excellence Award & Reach Cambridge Summer Scholarship Award
Like their peers in the past, graduating cohort 2020 made us very proud again. Audrey Febrina clinched the Cambridge Excellence Award for English Literature and went on to receive a full scholarship for Summer Engineering Program in Cambridge University. We also saw A Yeong Jeon, a Korean student gain acceptance to do engineering at Korea’s elite and top university, Yonsei University.

2021
The onset of the Covid19 pandemic and move towards online studies
It was a challenging 2 years for every teacher, student, child and parent. While the pandemic shuttered business, school went online. Ichthus invested in better hardware, software and online learning platforms to deliver engaging lessons. Welcoming feedback, constant survey engagements and listening to our parents allowed us to improve and deliver better engagement and online classes.

2017
i3L Young Scientist Competition Winner – Towards Sustainability – Waste to Fertilizer
Coached by biology teacher, Ms Charina, Carissa Setiawan obtained 1st Place in the nation wide i3L Young Scientist Competition for her research in commercialization of fish waste to agricultural fertilizers. She went on to represent Indonesia in the world competitions held in Stuttgart Germany. She came home with a silver award and an IDR30juta scholarship for her university studies.

2019
DKI Jakarta Christian Choir Champions Again
For the 2nd consecutive time, Ichthus choir made us proud by winning the top spot to represent the capital Jakarta in the Christian Choir Competitions (Pesparawi) at the nationals in Pontianak, Kalimantan.

Cambridge Examination Center
Ichthus South campus was officially recognized as a Cambridge International Examination Center.

2015
A Year of Many Firsts

Ichthus school choir became the champions for DKI Jakarta to represent the capital and compete in the nationals at Ambon. This year, the choir students were trilled to get to perform in front of the governor of Jakarta.

It was also the first year, Ichthus inaugurated the pre-university program offering classes for Grade 11 & 12.

2016
Congratulations to our Inaugural Graduating Cohort
We started small with a group of 6 students who are best of friends. Richard Umboh who was the Cambridge Excellence Award achiever for combined science got accepted to study Aeronautical engineering in the University of California, while the rest pursued business and humanities in universities in USA, Australia and the Philippines.

This was also the first year that Ichthus students participated in the nation wide i3L Young Scientist competitions.

Cambridge Examination Center
Ichthus South campus was officially recognized as a Cambridge International Examination Center.

2014
Introduction to Pre-University
Completion and operation of a brand new secondary building for South Campus Pre-University A levels was introduced in Ichthus South Campus for the first time.

Nurturing Excellence in Ichthusians
First cohort of Ichthusians taking the Cambridge IGCSE examinations at the south campus and at the same year this cohort garnered the outstanding Cambridge Excellence Award a feat that was repeated yearly from 2017 onwards

Ichthus swept the 1st and 2nd place in the nationwide i3L Young Scientist competition.

2015
A Year of Many Firsts
All campuses achieved accredited statuses from WASC, ACSI and SPK (International school recognition from the Ministry of education and culture)

2009
More Recognition to Follow
Ichthus west campus received accreditation from ACSI and received Cambridge International examination center status.

Expansion to the South
Ichthus School Primary South Campus @Bona Vista was inaugurated.

South Campus moved due to expansion to the current location at Pondok Indah

First Accreditations
Ichthus was accredited a full fledge ANPS international school. The inauguration of the 1st primary 6 graduates.
